"We begin to see positive results from the decision we have made. We begin to notice changes. While the circumstances of our lives may not change, the way we deal with those circumstances does. Because we have made the decision to allow spiritual principles to work in our lives, we may notice a sense of relief. We are being relieved of a burden we’ve carried far too long: the need to control everything and everyone. We begin to react differently to the situations and people around us. As we gain acceptance, we cease to struggle against life on life’s terms. Striving to maintain and build on our surrender, we are better able to live and enjoy life in the moment."

Hey Steve, that's near as dammit 500 days!
that's a big number. more than i can count on my fingers. In fact, a whole family of centipedes would struggle with it.
What i'm trying to say in my clumsy way is "Yay Steve!!!!"
Living life in the moment is the only way to go. Great to talk to you today. Keep up the clean living and pass it on down (you know what I mean!)
Spiritual principles - maybe that's what I need to help me come to terms with mum's situation - but where does a pessimistic agnostic find them?
Good for you, my friend. Good for you.

tHANKS EVERYBODY....
Lily, what I like about the program is that it talks about Spiritual priciples, not a Religion. it says that spiritual growth is finding ways to put the priciples into action, and that many people have found that finding a God of their own understanding may help to do that.
And for knuckleheards like me and you, it says it may take a long time, that its a process and not an event.
i know you have to be finding ways to get hope and patience and gratitude and willingness to work for you everyday to take care of your mama. Your higher power may simply be your best effort some days. thats why I like my program. It doesnt guarantee anything or demand any more than what I can chew at any time.
I am in great awe here. This topic always makes me feel uneasy (partly because of my own addicted mind... a rush a day keeps reality away) but I'm glad and proud you can share this thing with us.
I'm with Martijn. Your honesty amazes me. As for the program, I've managed to stay clean and I'm as agnostic as they come. My basic philosophy is, There is no God, and I'm not Him. Does that make any sense? In any event, I admire Steve for keeping it honest and real. Thanks pal.
