Your Catfish Friend

"If I were to live my life in catfish forms
in scaffolds of skin and whiskers
at the bottom of a pond
and you were to come by one evening
when the moon was shining
down into my dark home
and stand there at the edge
of my affection and think,
"It's beautiful here by this pond. I wish
somebody loved me,"
I'd love you and be your catfish
friend and drive such lonely
thoughts from your mind
and suddenly you would be
at peace, and ask yourself,
"I wonder if there are any catfish
in this pond? It seems like
a perfect place for them."

- Richard Brautigan

I love this as much as anything I've ever run across. Ireally really do. Its like I've spent my whole life in this poem.

I like it too.

And the photo. I camped beside the Baker River once in Rumney NH and did that with candles. It was beautiful.

I like this poem much more than the Billy Collins one. Have seen a series of those photos - they are magical and go perfectly with the poem....

Is this pic part of a series? Cool! I like the pic as well. I have had a lot of fun matching quotes to pics this last year over on Facebook. I should share some of them here, where unlike Facebook, they are searchable.
