TOO MUCH INFORMATION

"Share five off the wall, strange, unusual or just little known facts about yourself.” Part 5

I have never breathed a word of this to anyone.... ever!

In the 5th Grade my best friend Greg and I had a couple of Girlfriends that we would meet at the Park and play ‘Spin the Bottle”. After a few sessions it was my idea to ditch the bottle and just go for it.
And somewhere along the way Greg and I decided that it was in the best interest of all if he and I were to practice our kissing on...
EACH OTHER!!!
So before we met up with the young ladies, we would do a few warm ups.

I like to think that it was his idea.

I remember the day that some ‘Big kids’ came upon the 4 of us and Greg and I ran for our lives. That was the end of that. The girls never spoke to us again. And it wasn’t long before Greg and I weren’t talking either.

It was a few years later that a girl named Venita showed me what a kiss could truly be. My knees buckled and my head spun and time stood still. It felt like I was in orbit.

I’m pretty sure that Greg and I had been doing it wrong.

To read about love....

My girlfriends and I 'practiced'. The shower wall or the back of ones hand simply does not work!

This is hilarious! I can't imagine anyone I knew in the fifth grade even thinking about kissing. Where in the world have I been all my life only kissing boys? My girlfriends and I talked about the "right way" to kiss, but there were no demonstrations. Maybe I've been missing out on some good experiences!

I can't think of a better way to spend an insomnia plauged night than having a hearty laugh while reading your blog. Thanks, Steve.

And don't worry, I won't tell.

Ha ha! Love it! And I thought it was only supposed to be girls that practiced on each other! :-D

I only played spin the bottle a couple of times, but since 3 of the lads my friend and I played with fancied her, there seemed to be a lot of 'cheating' and my friend getting kissed rather more than anyone else - I spent a lot of party time in the kitchen picking up the pieces after she dumped these guys!!

If we met face to face, would you blush if I brought up this story? :-D

But, RDG - didn't you find the kissing was a bit flat? :-)

AWESOME. You are a brave man, and that story is so funny and so very sad all at the same time.

Of course boys do things like that. It's completely normal for children to express and practice their sexuality, especially with a trusted friend. I had a therapist who told me that is is very common for children to go through something of a homosexual phase in their development (don't anyone get defensive). Think of the period when little boys and girl think the opposite sex is 'gross' and 'stupid' (evidently I'm stunted, because I don't recall ever feeling that way about boys), and when they have same-sex crushes on each other.

It's all part of socialization, and even self-love, I'd say.

I think it's really sweet, and making kids or adults, for that matter, ashamed about it is just wrong.
It's sad you guys didn't remain friends, but I'm sure the social pressure was too much.

In fourth grade, my best friend Katie and I would practice making out in her parents' basement. There was a botched attempt with my 'boyfriend,' Nick, that same year, but real practice on boys started in sixth grade with that super cute Mexican exchange student, Mario. All the girls liked him, but I got him. I wasn't even particularly popular, but Latino boys like blondes!

I sure am running at the mouth, Steve-o! Sorry.

Wow what a story. Hey no big thing. 5th grade...that was early to think about girls so you were headed in the right direction. For me I had a neighborhood of girls. I think I kissed every one of them. What a learning time!!
