Long pause....
Blogger # 3 “Well, I’ve heard worse shit”
So, where were we. Oh, yes ....3 Competitions and 3000 miles in 8 days...here is the schedule :

If that was not enough, the students must attend classes after riding the bus all night and then...get this...
AFTER SCHOOL IS OUT THAT DAY THEY LOAD UP AND TRAVEL AGAIN ....
1100 MILES TO INDIANAPOLIS WHERE FOR THREE DAYS ARE INVOLVED IN TWO SETS OF PRELIMS AND THE FINAL PERFORMANCE FOR
BAND OF AMERICA GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The field is pared down from 120 to 24, then from 24 to 12.
When we make it to the Finals on Saturday its a crapshoot... every Band in Finals is capable and worthy of taking one of the top 5 spots. Last year we placed Third.
If there is a purpose for this other than as a record of this year for my Daughter and the pleasre of having written it, it would be directed to anyone out there reading this that is responsible for hiring of new employees.... my daughters band is not the only one that is participating in a workload I have described and any member of any band is going to have to demonstrate the Qualities and Attributes I have so poorly attempted to describe to you during these several posts. When a former band Participant comes to you hat in hand I would give them the highest recommendation one can, sight unseen.
Also, for any parent whose child may be so inclined, as wholesome as it is for the child
I AM HAVING THE TIME OF MY LIFE!

I'm assuming that a lot of parents go to as much as they can? Do you take many days off to do this? She must love that you support her so much. It seems to be a whole lot of work, time, and practising! But you're right, it is very wholesome.
If I were to go to Indy I would have to take time off... I have been wanting to post about some of the Fundraiser events like when a lady tried to give me her Cat, there are other priceless stories... I think the count on parents traveling to San Antonio is around 325... the band membership is 280 so yes, the kids are mighty well supported.
I just may end up like some other parents and involved in this program years after my own child has graduated.
I bet you know this feeling very well...in my comment yesterday I said that you would like my daughter... she would like you as well...she loves to read and it must be an amazing thing to be such a part of teaching youngsters to read and seeing that look on their face as they discover reading.
The craft fair is coming up and by popular demand I will once again be Santa!(kids love me)
That is so cool! Ya goota post pics of that one!
I love craft fairs...I'd go for sure if I was a wee bit closer!
My niece is at The Univ. of Texas right now doing a work placement for a Masters in Sports Admin. and Event Organization....that's as close as I can get! Por kid may not make it home for Xmas because of all the football events but her parents are flying down for American Thanksgiving.
I am sure I'd have loved your daughter in any class of mine. I loved those with school spirit and who participated in lots of activities. You would have loved teaching. There are many rainbow moments!
"goota"? That's a new one! Maybe I was thinking of the cheese!
